Hatching Egg Information:

We keep all our colors separate except we do keep a few pens
containing blue/splash and Cuckoo/blue/black.  We might use a splash
roo with blue hen (or vice-a-versa) and a cuckoo roo with blue or black
hen. The eggs will be marked accordingly.  We do not mix any other
colors in the breeding pens. We store our eggs in a controlled
environment no longer than 2 days before shipping so you will receive
the freshest eggs.  The eggs are carefully packed to avoid any damage
in shipping and are shipped USPS Priority Mail (extras will be sent).

We have good fertility and good hatch rates here and only sell
hatching eggs when we have eggs in the incubator ourselves which lets
us know if the boys are doing their jobs!  But due to uncontrollable
shipping conditions, I cannot guarantee yours.  We have had some very
good feedback regarding hatches from our customers.

Birds:

We will rate our birds the same as we would if we were to keep
them.  Pet quality means that these birds have a flaw that would be a
disqualification in the show ring or that we would not like to see in a
breeding program such as wrong number of toes, single comb or wrong
coloration. Breeder quality would be a bird that has qualities that
could be useful in a breeding program and has no major flaws.  Any
slight flaws will be noted and the bird will be priced accordingly.  We
do not usually use the term show quality on young silkies as you cannot
fully evaluate a bird until maturity.  We will, however, note if a young
bird is from show winning parents and shows good potential or if
he/she has placed at a show.

We do not guarantee sex of any chick or young bird unless stated in
the description.  We occasionally sell sexed pairs.  We will not hold
any bird until sale is confirmed and payment received.  If payment is
not received after confirmation of a sale within 5 days, bird(s) may
sell to someone else.

We ship birds USPS Express Mail continental U.S. only and charge
$65 shipping for the first box load and $35 shipping for each
additional box load (price includes boxes).  Once the box is in the
hands of the Postal Service, we no longer guarantee the birds.  The
birds will be insured and any claims should be made to the Postal
Service by you.    A few days prior to shipping, we get them used to
the boxes so they are not stressed and then they are finally shipped,
weather permitting, with plenty of goodies for the trip.  Upon
notification of shipment of birds, you should call your local P.O. to let
them know they are coming and they will call you as soon as they
arrive so you can pick them up.

We can also deliver to any of the shows we attend.  In 2013, we are
planning on going to Central IL Poultry Show, Peoria, IL 5/4; IL/MO
Bantam Club Show, Highland, IL 6/1; Shelby Co. Fair, Shelbyville, IL
7/23; IL State Fair, Springfield, IL 8/19;  IL/MO Bantam Club Show,
Highland, IL 11/2 and OH Nationals in Columbus, OH 11/10.

FEED ALERT!!!

Due to the 2012 drought, high levels of toxins (alfatoxin,
mycotoxin), have been found in the corn crop.   This can cause
serious problems for your birds especially breeders and
babies.   Commercially prepared feeds will usually contain
toxin binders which will eliminate the problems but please
check your labels.   If you feed cracked corn or grind your
own corn for feed, please have it tested for toxins.  If you do
find it in your feed, you can puchase toxin binders to add to
the feed.  Contact your local feed supplier.

Please note: A few states are now requiring a health certificate (at a
cost of $15) and possibly AI testing (at a cost of approximately
$35.00 for 2 adult birds).  Random birds in our flock have been
recently AI tested but Illinois does not issue an approval number for
flocks so birds must be individually tested before being sent.  Click
on the link below to check your state's regulations.
